1 in 4 women, aged 18 and older in the United States, have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. 
A child was a witness to violence in 22% of intimate partner violence cases filed in state courts. 
On average, nearly 24 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 12 million women and men. 
Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. That is nearly 1,100 women a year.
